About Us
Hi!, we're Edward & Rosy Hallatt.
The novatonthat.com idea came to us after reading a Gardening article in The
Sunday Times. It featured the actress Sian Phillips, who no longer having
a garden of her own works in friends gardens in her spare time because she
enjoys it so much.
This started us thinking about how many people, from students to
pensioners, must be out there & who would like to offer their help for
almost every activity you can think of.
Unlike Sian, most people would want paying, but because they don't have the
usual business overheads, the price they charge would be cheaper than
employing a firm and, of course, because spare time workers would fall below
the VAT registration threshold, there would be an additional saving as
there would be no VAT. (The current VAT threshold is £60,999pa or
£15,249 in any one quarter).
Within a couple of minutes we came up with this list of the help we
needed right then:

has been dripping for ages, but I'm too mean to pay a £60 call out charge !!!! |
And if you've ever tried to find anyone to help you do all the little jobs
at a reasonable price, you'll know that the demand is there.
So we created this web site to put local people offering help & people
wanting help together.
